Generation Z Workshop: How can you engage effectively with Generation Z?
Generation Z, also known as Gen Z, refers to the youngest generation born between 1996 and 2010, that will soon after finishing their studies enter the workforce and become a leading and influential part of the society.
Would you like to learn more about the Gen Z while addressing them with different information at your institutions?
Together with Strateggo, a Prague-based Strategic Marketing Agency, Palacký University conducted an extensive survey in November 2021, and would like to share the findings that can be relevant to all Aurora universities, working on the co-engagement of their young student communities.

Practical training in the use of geospatial technologies in hazard research and response
This Aurora-supported intensive graduate-level field course is offered by of the Department of Geography and Tourism Studies of the University of Iceland, in collaboration with colleagues from the UI Science Institute and Palacký University Olomouc, Czech Republic.
Graduate students from Aurora universities are encouraged to apply, especially those with a background in human or physical geography, geology, environmental sciences or environmental engineering. Applicants are expected to have some basic knowledge of geographic information systems.The course provides students a first-hand experience with state-of-the-art geospatial technologies that are becoming important for both basic research and practical response planning in locations exposed to natural hazards. The focus is on two methodological innovations, understanding physical processes that contribute to landslide hazards and enabling meaningful participation of local publics in hazard research and response.
The course gives students the chance to explore Icelandic nature, gain a practical experience in the field, and to work on projects in international teams.

Every student experiences challenging times and difficulties, which may impede motivation to study and slow down in academic career. This is particularly evident during the COVID-19 pandemic. Together with Sinapsi, the University of Naples Federico II has put together the Group Self-Management Training, to mitigate this challenge.
The programme is focused on strategic skills: strategies for effective time management; strategies for increasing motivation for your work; strategies for achieving goals; and strategies for problem solving. The student group will be given a virtual space to share, compare, and mirror your academic experience, and tools to construct a learning-bydoing arena.

Aurora Spring Biannual Innsbruck 2022

Universität Innsbruck hosts the 2022 spring edition of the Aurora Biannual. The Biannual will take place at a time when we are halfway through the Aurora Erasmus+ Alliance programme, which has seen some very encouraging developments as well some challenges. Looking back and ahead at the same time is therefore an appropriate motif for the Innsbruck Biannual, which will host interesting and stimulating (plenary) sessions, but also in-depth discussions in smaller working group settings.
More detailed information about the (preliminary) programme, as well as location and practical information, can be found in the upper section of this website.
Please note that registrations will take place after the ongoing "Call for Participation" and in close consulation with your local Institutional Coordinators (throughout March).

Aurora COIL Fair on LGBTQ+ issues

Aurora seeks to promote Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) projects on LGBTQ+ issues across the disciplines and with a particular focus on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (e.g. SDG 5 "Gender Equality"; SDG 10 "Reduced Inequalities"; or SDG 16 "Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions").
We therefore invite instructors from all Aurora and associated universities as well as local stakeholders to a COIL Fair, to be held on May 24, 2022, from 16.00 - 17.00 CEST.
If you have instructors interested in LGBTQ+ issues and the UN SDGa who are looking for new COIL teaching partners, please share the following link with them so that their information can be featured in the upcoming AURORA COIL Partnering Bulletin.

Czech for Beginners - Free Online Course - April to June 2022

Would you like to learn how to say "strč prst skrz krk" , and do you want to start learning a Slavonic language? Then this is the course for you! Through this online course of Czech for beginners, you will start your discovery of the Czech language, and learn all the necessary basics. This class could be an ideal preparation for a stay in the Czech Republic, for example on an Erasmus Exchange, an Aurora Mobility, or even a holiday. The Czech for Beginners course will comprise of ten one-hour classes. The weekly classes will be taught by Tereza Koudelíková and will take place on Zoom. Open Aurora courses at the University of Innsbruck

Universität Innsbruck has opened 5 Aurora courses on a Bachelor, Master and PhD level. In addition, through Aurora, students have the opportunity to participate in classes organized by other Aurora universities. We welcome all students to sign up and participate in this spring's courses.
The courses are as follows:
- 800.860 Environment & Care: Canadian Perspectives (Bachelor Level, online, lecture, 3 ECTS Credits)
- 800.870 Social Entrepreneurship & Innovation focusing on Sustainability & Climate Change (Master Level, blended format/short term mobility, course, 5 ECTS Credits)
- 800.871 Educational Inequality (Master Level, online, lecture, 5 ECTS Credits)
- 800.872 Climate Protection (Master Level, online, lecture, 2,5 ECTS Credits)
- 645.900 Doctoral Seminar: "Borders and Places" (PhD Level, short term mobility, seminar 5 ECTS Credits)
The deadline for registration for the Bachelor's and Master's level courses is expected to last until January 30 (or until the maximum number of participants has been reached). The registration period for the system on PhD Level is expected to start on March 1.

Critical Reading of the Medical Literature

This course is organized by the Universitat Rovira i Virgili and it is open to URV students and students from the different branches of Health Sciences, within Aurora.
How to search, select, critically appraise and interpret scientific evidence is an essential skill for health professionals and scientists in the making of evidence based decisions and diagnositcs in their day to day research and clinical activities. The NCBI/NLM/NIH PubMed database is a widely available source of peer-reviewed medical and scientific literature.
The weekly course (3 ECTS subject) runs from late February to mid-May and is based mainly on team work to develop skills in communication, critical thinking and reporting. The final 2 sessions consist of a debate and a simulated conference setting in which students give oral presentations and also participate in the debate / microphone sessions for questions and answers.
